tiny houses, simplicity, intentional living, minimalism -- all types of limitation that bring freedom. all topics that have been on my mind for a while now, but ever pressingly this week.
i loved coming across these photos again, from an adventure in Ireland in 2015 where i had the privilege of staying in this cute camper in the middle of The Burren. the contemplative space that the month of January usually brings with it has had me looking back into various archives and it's been a happy and welcome time of recollection and rediscovery.
in fact, looking back, i recognize this experience as one of the earlier placed logs on the ever growing fire that is my desire to live more simply and intentionally.
Travel
August Showers and New York Flowers
i had the exceptionally wonderful opportunity to travel to New York City at the end of last month to photograph some special projects with my friend Casey Godlove, Plantshed and WeWork!
(what? you got paid to travel to New York to take photos of flowers and plants?? i know... i can hardly believe it myself. talk about a dream job. #thetravelingphotographer)

leaving here a small collection of imperfect photos, that i took with some expired film, that make me happy.
perhaps exactly because of their imperfection.
and perhaps also because of:
Farm Days | An Oregon Urban Flower Farm In Film
i recently got some film developed from last Fall's trip to the Pacific North West.
today i wanted to share this set of photos from a little urban flower farm in Salem Oregon because the colorful faces of these blooms has me excited for Spring (despite the fact that i biked in 30 degree weather this morning... Spring is so close, i know it, i know it).
A New Direction
so i meant to post this the same day i announced the new website being up, but wouldn't you know it i blinked and it's already over a week later...
but then i ended up wanting to share my New Perspective post first anyway. which i'd love for you to read, if you haven't already, to grasp a better understanding of where A Girl Named Leney is heading and what my heart for it is.
To The Water
go to the water
to the water
the water
water.
it's fading. going out. taking the shoreline and tide with it.
diminishing.
like my resolve and spirit and resilience.
i need replenishing in the way the moon gives to the sea.

Remembering Georgia Pt. 2
chili bowls and super bowls.
sunset drives through the tall crisp grass.
a ship's galley on land.
"to wives and lovers, may they never meet."
salvaged pieces from ships finding their final resting place.
skateboarding lessons after coffee and toast.
whiskery stowaways.
twilight zone time changes.
"well... never forget who you are and where you came from."

Remembering Georgia Pt. 1
teaching little fingers how to advance camera shutters, frame shots and create.
flag football in muddy fields with the neighborhood boys.
reading fairytales in bed in diffused afternoon light with close i-already-trust-you cuddles.
bashful side eying turned hand holding turned cheek kissing.
driving west and back, welcomed by little arms and legs being wrapped around my limbs with insistent-genuine exclamations of being sorely missed, despite only recently meeting.

Adventures In Film | Brooklin, Maine
A few film photos from a trip to Brooklin Maine around this time last year, which also included a trip to The WoodenBoat School.
Oh how I can't wait to go back in July and gain more inspiration for Tumblehome.
Despite being a lifelong Virginian, Maine is a state I could see myself calling home.
But then again, anywhere on the water is a place I call home.
