Collaboration | Joules

At the end of last month I ventured up to the mountains for an annual apple picking excursion.

If you live in Richmond, on any given weekend during the height of Autumn, you can count on your instagram feed being flooded by Virginia residents and their Carter Mountain apple picking photos. Us Virginians live by this tradition and though my trip was a little later in the season than usual, I still managed to come home with some delicious apples.

I absolutely loved wearing this coat from Joules during my little autumn adventure. I've worn it several times since then and not only is it warm but water resistant!
(Which is kind of essential for someone who wanders around in the rain/goes sailing as often as I do). Definitely check out more of their coats and parkas.
This one is another cute one in particular.
They have all kinds of lovely things though, go see for yourself!

Big thanks to my lovely friend Emily for shooting these photos.

Shop Local | Blackbird Tees

Small Business Saturday was yesterday, and so in light of that I thought it'd be a good opportunity to give one of my favorite small (and local!) small businesses a little shout out.

Blackbird Tees has been mentioned a time or two here on the blog, so you might be familiar with them, but even if you've already checked out their shop, you need to again because they have some awesome new stuff up! And I'm not just saying that because they asked me to model some of it.
;)

Jody and Karl are the hard working duo behind Blackbird Tees which they run from a studio here in Richmond. They're pretty much some of the coolest cats around and not only make awesome apparel but killer blondies, have great taste in beer and are excellent printer fixers.
(Not so subtle shout out to Karl for helping me with my printer issues last week...)

No but really, they're pretty great and you should definitely hit them up for some Christmas gifts!
Plus, everything in their shop is on sale right now!

A few of my personal favorites...

Loose Fit Full Moon Tunic

Grizzly Bear Sweatshirt

Night Scouting T-Shirt

Geometric Maxi Dress

Full Moon Tote

Roam Sweet Roam Crop Top

Canoe Infinity Scarf

You Cook I'll Clean Tea Towels

Fashion Friday | Wool and the Gang

So, remember that Wool and the Gang sweater kit I was knitting?
Well I finally finished it!
I finished it a while ago actually, but it took me a little while to get some photos taken of it.
Meagan and I went to Ashby's and they were nice enough to let us snap a few film photos of it in their shop so I could share it with you guys.
(Love that green couch. Can I have it?)

Had heaps of fun knitting this up. It was super easy peasy.
Definitely go check out WATG's other knit kits!
They have so many cool ones to choose from.

Collaboration | Avonnie Studio

Avon of Avonnie Studio sent me some of her hand painted mugs recently, and I just have to say they are super adorable. I mean, look, that girl on that first mug is me, glasses and all!
So cute, right?
And of course I love the Virginia mug. I mean, hello, Virginia is for lovers after all.
Not only are the mugs super cute, they came beautifully packaged as well. Gotta love it when Etsy shop owners take the time to make opening their lovely handmade pieces feel like Christmas.

Today I wanted to share with you all some lovely cards that were sent to me from the oh so talented girl behind Erin Nausin Design.
Of course they are just perfect with Valentines Day right around the corner and all, so you should definitely think about getting a pack and checking out the rest of her lovely shop!
I was super excited when Erin sent these to me actually because they just so happen to go right along with the theme of my February goals.
I've already written a few notes in some and can't wait to finish up the rest!

Wool and the Gang Progress

Finally got around to starting my Wool and the Gang Cross Country Coat today!
After watching some of How To Marry A Millionaire I already had one sleeve cranked out.
Man do I love big needles and big yarn. Instant knitting gratification!
And let me just say that WATG's Crazy Sexy Wool is so soft and lovely to work with.
I'm definitely hooked.
Here are a few photos of my progress, hopefully I can sit down and finish this beauty soon!

P.s. Wool and The Gang is actually having a sale right now!
Up to 65% off!
Go have a look see for yourself.

Blackbird Tees

Meet Jody and Karl.

They are the shop owners of

Blackbird Tees

and I had the privilege of dropping by their studio a month or two ago and learning about their process for making their super cool hand printed apparel!

A friend of mine had shown me their Etsy shop a while back and once I learned they were also fellow Richmond artists, I knew I had to say hello! As small as Richmond can feel sometimes, and for being here all my life, it's surprising the amount of artists and creatives that are in this city that I don't know about. So whenever I come across new ones I love making new connections if I can!

Jody and Karl were so sweet to let me stop by their studio and I loved watching how screen printing works and learning more about the behind the scenes of a full time shop. Karl even gave me a few tips for shipping orders which I need to look into for

my own shop

. ;)

This isn't the last you'll see of these two and their awesome apparel.

Keep an eye out for an upcoming collaboration I'm doing with them soon!

Tox Leather

Today I'm super excited to be sharing my new laptop case with you all courtesy of Eser and her shop Tox Leather! Eser is based in Istanbul Turkey and makes some of the most beautiful leather cases and bags I've ever seen. She strives to make pieces that speak to the history of handmade leather goods and it being one of the oldest art forums in the world. She loves creating unique and timeless pieces that she hopes will last a life time.

This case is for the 13" Macbook Pro and it fits it perfectly. There's two ways to close it and it has a front pocket perfect for papers and a few pens (or, in my case, Joann Fabrics coupons and knitting patterns). I love the softness of the leather and how easy it is to slide my computer in and go. Not to mention the case, within itself, is beautiful and a fashion statement all on its own!

Definitely go check out her shop and spend some of that Christmas money I'm sure you still have burning in your pockets. I especially love this pouch and this tote bag, but she has a whole shop full of beautiful and versatile pieces so be sure to check them out!
