I’d like to walk there again. It was so lonely— a nice kind of loneliness, and all grass and clover and soft sea air. — The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis

The blues of Lake Geneva, Switzerland are what inspired this cowl.
It's a place that's unreal in its beauty, one of the most stunning I've been to in my travels.
This piece is made from a yarn that I've had in my stash for so long that I no longer remember where it's from. But it's blue tones brought me back to those incredible views as soon as I saw it.
If you'd like to invest in this piece and be the owner of it's unique story you can do so by heading to the shop listing for it below
You can also see other OOAK Knits and there stories here.
Why one-of-a-kind?
These pieces are inspired by...
the places i’ve been,
the people i’ve met,
the words i’ve read,
the images i’ve created.
All of which are unique, to themselves, their own, one-of-a-kind.
Much like you are.
I believe that your clothing, what you wear, says a lot about you.
It adds to your story, your make-up, who you are as an individual.
And so, shouldn’t those pieces in and of themselves hold a story all their own?
I think so.
That’s why my knitwear is one-of-a-kind.
Each design is a piece of art.
Each piece tells a story.
Of a person. A place. An experience. An idea.
When you own one of these pieces you are the only one to own it.
Aside from me, the creator, you hold it’s story.
You are now the caretaker of it’s story.
And it, in turn, becomes a part of yours.
The Stories The Things We Own Tell.
I think they're terribly important, though often overlooked.
I find that the things we invest in are the things we cherish and value most. Which in turn speaks to what kind of individual we are. What we put stock in. Who we want to be.
You can also read more about why here.

A good leather bag
Lots of little pouches and purses to organize bits and pieces that are brought along as well as bits and pieces newly found
A scarf - this one is my usual go to but I've also fallen in love with this cotton one I found in Barcelona over the summer
A book to provoke new thoughts
A bit of simple jewelry- because it can often make me feel pretty and put together even if I haven't showered in a few days on the road and have been wearing the same shirt for more days than I want to recollect
The Adventure Hat
A sweet smelling fragrance
Music- whether that's in the form of CD's, a home made mix tape, an iPod or Spotify on your phone
A travel journal- never go on a trip without one. You never know what you'll find that warrants documenting

I'm home again.
I'm back from Europe and oh my goodness I am so filled with the beautiful and incredible places/people/things I met during my travels. There really just aren't words to sum up the trip and experience as a whole. Or, if there are, I haven't found them yet. Everything's been a bit of a whirlwind since I've been back.
I think that it will only be in retrospect that I will realize the impact these places have on me to be quite honest.
I think that's often how it is with my various ventures. Only after the fact, once I've had time to meditate on the experience and let it sink in, do I fully see and experience the fullness you get of being somewhere wonderful and new.
Does that make sense?
So many new thoughts and ideas and stories were carried across the pond back with me and I can't wait to share them though.
Along with heaps of photos too of course.
I'm definitely feeling inspired and ready to get back to my routines and catching up on work.
I'm ready to be settled and home for a bit as well.
At least, until the next adventure presents itself...
Well I announced yesterday that I'm traveling to Europe in a little over a week (!!!), so similarly to my Iceland trip, I'm reaching out to any artists, small business owners, creatives, designers etc. who might be interested in collaborating during my travels!
I will be taking some different pieces with me to Europe to photograph and promote and do some styled shoots with, so if you'd like to have any of your designs or products included let's chat!
I'll be giving some Instagram shout outs, and you'll also be included in some blog posts when I return. Plus, you'll be able to use the photos as you like afterwards (and I mean... you'll be able to say your work has been to Europe ;) )!
If you'd like to collaborate, shoot me an email: agirlnamedleney@gmail.com
I'll be taking submissions and inquires until the 12th of June!
xo
I'm super excited to announce that I will be hopping a plane to EUROPE in two weeks!
This year has been a whirlwind of traveling and adventures and I've been loving every minute of i, to say the least. I actually can't really adequately express the excitement I have for this trip.
A post with some late night thoughts on that is probably coming soon...
But in keeping with the new travel dates announcements (if you don't know what those are you can read the explanation below), I wanted to let you know that if you live in Europe, or are traveling there at the same time as I am and would like to book a photo shoot, please contact me because I would so love to work with you!
I will be starting in Ireland, but I will be in Europe from June 15th-July 1st!
Or, if you have suggestions of things to do and places to go, I'm all ears for that too.
Feel free to comment below or shoot me an email to talk about it!

So something that I'm going to be introducing here on the blog is Travel Dates posts!
These posts will be little announcements of when I have travel dates set for places other than Richmond, VA and depending on my availability you can contact me and hire me for a photoshoot during my travels!
Because while, yes, I totally can and will come to you for a session wherever you're located, if you see that I'm already going to be near you during a certain time it'd be more cost efficient to go ahead and book a shoot then while I'm already planning on being in your area!
Make sense?
Plus, I've decided to, at least for the remainder of this year, offer my photo sessions booked during travel dates at a discounted rate!
What's not to love right?
There will actually be a section of the site specifically for Travel Dates, but I'm still working on that so until then you can check them out under the tag!
